- I'm a 21-year-old senior at Seattle University. I'm majoring in sociology, with a minor in nonprofit leadership. I have an internship with the American Cancer Society, and I plan on dedicating my life to supporting those affected by cancer.

- Our Story
- I met Gloria Strauss before she was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma when she was 7 years old. The second oldest of a family with (now) 7 kids, Gloria was always full of life and devoted to her faith, just like her family. She went through many procedures, including a stem cell transplant that gave her a 10% chance of making it out alive. She did, and she kicked butt! Her cancer came back and although she fought like the radiant warrior she was, she lost her battle with cancer on September 21, 2007 at the age of 11. Her story was chronicled in the Seattle Times, and thousands of lives were changed because of this GLORIOUS angel. I wrote my college admissions essay about her and I always told her that she got me into college. Words that her dad spoke at her funeral are in the forefront of my mind every day: " Try to be more GLORIA-like!"
