Dedicated To:
To Darrel, Boey, and to all the far too many children and their families that have been touched by cancer.
Our Story
Darrel was only 5 when he was diagnosed with Stage IV neuroblastoma in September 2005. Over the following two years, there were many highs...and countless extreme lows. On September 9, 2007, his long battle came to an end.

He refused to let the cancer beat him, and in all the ways that count, it didn't. Through it all, Darrel almost never lost his smile, his laugh, and his strong will and determination to have fun each and every day.

Some descriptions of neuroblastoma say it is a rare form of cancer. That is a BIG LIE!! Once our family was touched by it, we soon discovered many other children who had the disease. It may not get much exposure in the media, but there far more cases than there should be. Anything that goes out of its way to only target young children who have never done wrong to anybody should be better known and supported by everyone.

The webpages I've set up on MySpace and Facebook for Darrel have more information about what happened over those two years, and how things have moved on since then.

Thank You.

"For you, there'll be no more crying.
For you, the sun will be shining."

Through reading their blogs, watching the various video clips, or through sending e-mails, on many levels, I feel like I've already met these people. We have all shared in a similar journey, and a most unfortunate outcome. Our children will always be treasured and remembered.

Stuck In A Moment: Two Years Later
Category: Life

It has now been two years since my son Darrel was taken from us. Though the Earth continues to spin around, and life, with all its joys, trials, and tribulations continues to unfold before me each day, September 9, 2007 will forever linger in every fibre of who I am. No matter what happens, or how long I may live, the day that Darrel died will remain in my memory with a sharp piercing resonance as though it was only yesterday.

As Kira and Laure… Continue

Darrel's LIVESTRONG Action Dedication Page

I just dedicated a page to Darrel at LIVESTRONG Action. This page is a part of the world's largest dedication book that LIVESTRONG Action will use to pressure world leaders to do more to fight cancer.

The page will be used by Lance Armstrong and LIVESTRONG Action as part of
the world's largest dedication book to pressure world leaders to do more
to fight cancer. But in order for this tool to work we need people all over
the world to add their names to these dedication pages in a massive show

Missing Darrel: One Year Later
Category: Life

It is both impossible to believe, and unbearable to fully take in the fact that a year has passed since Darrel's death. So much of my life has changed since September 9, 2007, yet my son playing a huge part in every day of it has not, and never will. There are constant reminders everywhere of all things Darrel. Most of them are from happier times, which upon reflection can only lead my thoughts back to how his life c… Continue

More Than Meets The Eye
Category: Life

As the one year anniversary of Darrel's death looms closer, it is still impossible to believe he is actually gone. There is still, and hopefully always will be, so much of him in every corner of the house. Though his old room is now Kira's (and very pink), and countless renovations have taken place, there constant physical reminders that this IS his home too.

Pictures are scattered here, there and everywhere....his hand m… Continue

I just wanted to stop by and say I know and understand, to a degree, your pain you feel about Neuroblastoma cancer. My son was 14 months old when diagnosed back on May 17,2005. He fought a long and hard battle before he gained his Angel Wings and flew up to Heaven to be with God and my mom. Kody was 3 years, 4 months and 13 days old(07-29-07). It is so hard... Most of the kids caringbridge sites that I begain visiting during Kody's treatment are all Angel's. It is so sad to see soooo many effected by the beast Neuroblastoma, yet it is not talked about. Just wanted to let you know that I understand... May you find peace and comfort knowing that one day you will be reunited. hugs n prayers~ Kristi Cannon- Proud mom to Angel Kody.

Hi Stephan and family, I just joined the site and wanted to say that I am sorry for all that your family has endured. We must find an end to cancer esp. childhood cancers. My co-workers nephew was just diagnosed with nueroblastoma at the age of 4, I know they have a long road ahead of them. God Bless!
